Everly Brothers: Don Everly dies from the age of 84 US rock ‘n’ roll star

The Everly Brothers, the sole survivor of the rock 'n' roll duo, died at the age of 84.

An Everly family spokesman in the Los Angeles Times acknowledged Everly’s death but did not reveal the cause.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Everly and his brother Phil enjoyed hits around the world, including Bye Bye Love and All I Have To Do Its Dream.

Their close harmonies were legendary and they influenced groups like The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel.

The pair had a break-out on stage in 1973 which led to a 10-year estrangement, but Phil later told Time magazine that the friendship of the brothers had survived.
